Heat Pumps
Before installing heat pumps, it must be properly sized in order for it to work efficiently. These units
are sized either for the cooling or for the heating demand, which also depends on which is the larger unit.
Usually the cooling unit is the largest. If the heat pump is installed in an area that has long periods of
freezing temperatures, it will not operate as efficiently as it is meant to work. It would also not be as cost
effective for you as well.

Pumps
Heat pumps installed into existing homes that do not currently have an air conditioner or
heat pump will need to have their ductwork enlarged to accommodate the new installation. The reason for this is
that heat pumps require larger ductwork than regular central heating. If adding a pump to an existing electric
furnace, the coil can be placed on the cold side of the furnace to maximize its efficiency.
The fans and compressors in heat pumps generally make a lot of noise. By placing the unit away from buildings
and windows, you will minimize the disturbance created from the noise.
One way to help eliminate the vibration caused is to mount the unit onto a base that is noise absorbing. When
selecting a specific unit to install, check the outdoor sound rating. If it comes with a rating of 7.6 bels or
lower then the less noisy, it will be.
Heat pumps work like air conditioners and during the cooler weather, they provide space heating. The unit will
work much better when used in conjunction with a central furnace. These units are good at providing effective space
cooling; they are also good at reducing energy costs associated with heating your home. In addition, a higher
efficiency pump will save you more money and energy than a low efficiency unit will. Air conditioning installation can be done by a licensed professional if you are not comfortable
with the task.
